Bottensöm is a Swedish embroidery technique for filling areas. The following instructions show how to fill a uniform square area, however, the quilt you will be filling is draped over the bed, so it is easier if you switch step one and two and start with the small x's at the intersection of the lines on you pattern, and then weave the long stitches through. If you use this stitch in another project to fill a uniform area, then follow the steps as shown. This is also a stitch that can take a lot of personalisation, feel free to switch colours or add further details as you are stitching.
